No longer a crib...

A couple of years ago I stumbled upon a garage sale and all that was left was a crib. When I asked how much it cost they said it was free. I took it. I sold the 2 side pieces of the crib at a garage sale. I believe in merchandising your garage sale items...displaying items just as they would be displayed in a store. I also think it is important to give people suggestions as to what can be done with the item and to supply dimensions. I put a note on crib sides suggesting they be used as headboards. One of my customers saw the note and immediately purchased them to use as headboards for her twin sons' beds.

I used the ends of the crib as a headboard in my house. When I found the blue shutters (see sidebar picture) and decided to use those as a headboard, I shuffled all the headboards in my house and decided to get rid of the crib pieces. My friend Kate planned to buy them...however in the meantime my sister-in-law was selling a beautiful wood headboard and footboard...so Kate purchased that set...and gave my friend Kathy the crib headboard. It looks absolutely adorable in Kathy's lakeside cottage.

Aren't you just the most clever girl. I love that you sold the crib off in parts.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love this idea! I have the side rails part of a crib that was turned into a cute linen/towel holder bought years ago at the flea marekt, and ever since then I've looked at cribs differently. But this takes the cake! And free to boot. That is my kind of repurposing. Adorable.

What a darling headboard!!! Truly, you never cease to amaze me. I can scroll through your blog just like a favorite magazine, only better, because you leave messages on my blog too. :o) Your dresser turned out so nicely. I need knobs for my dresser that I worked on several months ago. :o) Your blue glass knobs are very pretty.
