'VERT' a new occasional market...

It's been so long since I blogged that I almost forgot how to sign on to my blog. Yup, it has been since February that I last blogged.

It took something fun for me to get back to blogging. What you are wondering? A new occasional market called 'VERT' that I want to share with you.

This is what I bought at 'VERT'' today. Can't wait to find the perfect place in my home for her.

Want to know more about 'VERT' and see what all they have on hand, check out my Thrifty Shopping article on examiner.com.

Southern Hospitality Part I and a giveaway…

0821 002 Southern Hospitality is alive and well. I contacted Rhoda of Southern Hospitality and asked her for suggestions as to where to go shopping while I was in Pelham, Alabama. Rhoda referred me to Consigning Interiors. By far the best merchandised consignment store I have ever been in. Today I am sharing pictures of the exterior. I was smitten the minute I pulled up. Stop back tomorrow and see the interior. If you aren’t a Southern Hospitality follower make time to visit Rhoda, you will be glad you did.

Occasional Sale – part II…

osseo 017

Yesterday’s post featured the first stop on our Occasional Sale tour in Osseo. Today’s post highlights our visit to Antique Alley (see address and sale info at the bottom of the post). We were greeted with a warm and genuine welcome...which made me happy. Nothing drives me more crazy than to visit a shop where no one acknowledges your presence.

I couldn't resist taking a picture of the wash tubs. See how I used the wash tubs I rescued from the neighbor's dumpster.

The cabinet below reminds me of the one we had in my childhood log cabin…I remember rolling out many baking goodies on the enamel top.

Given that I lived in San Francisco and have walked the Golden Gate bridge, I had to take a photo of the picture below.

The lines of the dresser below are spectacular.

My girl Lollie’s dog treats would look delicious in the jar below.

This postcard was sent April 2, 1909….love the sailboats.

Thank you Linda for letting me take pictures in your shop.

Occasional Sale – part 1…

osseo 004
My friend Kate and I  went to a two occasional sales in Osseo, MN. The first sale we hit was at Nic Nac Paddywac’s (see address and sale info at the bottom of the post). Not only were the items charming…but the prices were very fair. osseo 005
osseo 006 The blue stand above would be great as a side table if you took out the bowl and place a piece of glass on it.
osseo 007
The tapestry fireplace screen would be fabulous in a cabin.
osseo 008
I loved the design and color of the frames below.
osseo 009The piece below was $129 and sold while were there and the person who bought it also purchased the candelabras.
osseo 010 I don’t have any china but thought these dishes were beautiful and took this picture for those of you that enjoy china.
osseo 011
osseo 012 It would be fun to plant herbs in these wall planters.
osseo 013If you really want to sell items you need to always include the dimensions and suggestion as to what the item could be used for. The piece below was probably used to store sheet music, but the tag suggested using it for scrapbooking paper...good suggestion.
osseo 014
osseo 015 The piece below could be used as a dresser, buffet or to store scrapbooking or quilting supplies.

LeAnntiques...

Visited one of my favorite antique shops today. LeAnntiques is located in Hopkins, MN (Twin Cities) and is open once a month for 11 days. I love this shop because of the owners LeAnn and Frank and because they always have charming items...and quite a few of those charmers have made their way to my home. I find LeAnn and Frank to be extremely friendly and welcoming. There are many times that I go to an antique or quilt shop and don't even get acknowledged. I know this type of behavior is somewhat standard in department and big box stores, but I don't ever expect it with small businesses. Thank you LeAnn and Frank for making my shopping experience so enjoyable.

If you are in the area make sure to stop by. Check out LeAnntiques for their address, phone number and upcoming dates.

Below are some pics I took while at LeAnntiques. You will have to wait until tomorrow to see what I bought.

What do you think the item below was designed to be used as?

Hanging a football uniform.
And what do you think the item below is?

It is a chocolate mold...if you lay it the open position on a dresser it would make a great earring holder.

And what do you think the item below was used for?

Yes, making bread.

I love the look of hinging doors together to make a divider.
What would you do with the little tires?

Some day I want to make a hooked rug.
Saw this chair and it reminded me of my chair. See my previous post

Love ladders and love red...this would be great for storing books or plants.
I envision this gate being used in a bathroom to hold towels.

The red coffee bin could contain my recycling or compost in the house until I take it out.

Wouldn't this be a great chandlier for the porch?

This small 'dresser' could be used as a dresser or buffet, for storing quilting or sewing or scrapbooking projects, games, photos, etc. The possibilities are endless.

Love this shopping cart...wouldn't it make a fun laundry basket?

I am into plate racks...I had them built into my kitchen. The blue box is so me.
