Is this really a sauerkraut jar?

When I was given this jar I was told that it was used for sauerkraut. Does anyone know if that is true?

I know this post is lame...but I am tired and distracted...so to make up for it I thought I would share a fabulous giveaway by one of my favorite bloggers.

Visit V and Co. by 10:00 am (MST) on

Thursday, March 5th to enter.

Wait, now that I think about it...I must be feeling very guilty about my lame post, as I just realized I am diminishing my odds of winning by telling you about a giveaway that I would love to win.

Thanks for stopping by...

Renee,
Yes, I have seen those jars used for sauerkraut. Sorry I don't know much about the history of it, people must really love their sauerkraut because those jars are huge!

I don't care what kind of jar it is, it's still beautiful!

I would think you could make sauerkraut in it but would need some kind of weight for the top. I think your post was whimsical and I like whimsy!!

It is a pretty jar. Can you smell any hint of sauerkraut in it? That's a smell that would be hard to get out. LOL
