I am not sure where I got this basket, but it reminds me of the collection basket from church. I enjoy using it for bread.

How cute, I have not actually ever seen one like it.
Lovely as it is, I think I would feel quite intimidated seeing the basket extending its way towards me for money! And there would be no secret about how much money you put in, would there. I can't think what else it would have been used for, so you may be right. xx
I believe it is a collection basket. Once the bread is eaten, you might try passing the empty basket around the table to see what you wind up with!
