JUNKMARKET garage sale…

sue whitney 009

Last weekend I stopped by Sue Whitney’s (JUNKMARKET Style) garage sale. Here are few pics of what was left on day 3. Believe it or not I only spent a dollar. I will show you my purchase soon.

White Elephant Sale...

My aunt Suzanne is involved in the White Elephant Sale...The Bay Area's Biggest and Best Rummage Sale...A Benefit for the Oakland Museum of California...so I thought I would share the details.

The White Elephant Sale is the biggest, the best, and one of the most enjoyable rummage sale in Northern California. All proceeds from the sale go to support programs and exhibitions at the Oakland Museum of California.

There are 17 departments in the White Elephant Sale—with everything for sale from sporting goods to boutique items, books to furniture, art to electrical items, dishes to shoes, and children's clothes, toys and furnishings to Hawaiian shirts and vintage clothing—all spread out in separate departments in the 96,000-square-foot warehouse. You will find collectibles and treasures of all sorts!

The White Elephant Sale will be held on Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8, 2009, with a Preview Sale Sunday January 25, 2009, and is held in Oakland, California at the White Elephant Sale Warehouse at 333 Lancaster Street, just off the 880 Freeway/Fruitvale exit near the Oakland Estuary. The Sale and preview are open from 10:00 to 4:00 each day. Tickets to the preview are $12.50 in advance and $15 at the door and the Sale admission is FREE.

So long old friend...

After 22 years together my mirrored, mahogany armoire is gone. Bought this beauty from an antique store in Walnut Creek, CA. It has been in my bedroom in 10 of my homes...but it couldn't make the narrow stairs in my 1906 house...so it was time to part ways. The people who purchased it got the deal of a lifetime.

Unfortunately the pics below were taken when I put it in the garage so I could use them for selling it...after the photos were taken the mirrored door was stored in the basement. I have a picture of it in my bedroom but I've been too lazy to scan it in. The door, top and bottom come off and the drawers all come out...and even with all those items out it is still a big piece to move. Measurements when all together: height 92” (7' 8") x depth 24” x width 48".

Its Gone...

I loved this table and spent four hours one day rearranging furniture in my home to make it fit. No luck. Bought it from a local children's shop that was going out of business...they used it for merchandising. Tried several times to sell it in my garage sales and on craigslist. Couldn't believe it didn't sell immediately. It came in two pieces and the top fit to the bottom...no screws required. Oh happy days...it sold today and will be a Christmas present for a 3 year old girl. Her mom found some cute tea cups at a thrift store and plans to set the table for tea.
